A woman thought she had rescued a puppy, but discovered something surprising and touching.

On a cold, silent morning, a woman found what appeared to be a puppy lying by the side of a trail. 

The tiny animal was huddled in the damp grass, practically motionless, hairless, and extremely fragile-looking. The sight immediately stirred her nurturing instinct.
