The name of Mingus Lucien Reedus, 25, is once again making international headlines — and not for his modeling or music career. The son of The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus and supermodel Helena Christensen was arrested in Manhattan, New York, on the morning of Saturday, August 23, after what police are calling a shocking act of violence.

Shocking details of the arrest

According to police reports, Mingus allegedly punched a 33-year-old woman in the leg, put his hands around her neck, and then threw her to the floor during a heated altercation inside an apartment on West 16th Street.

The incident was reported at around 8:40 a.m., and the victim was rushed to the hospital. Thankfully, her condition is said to be stable. Still, the brutality of the assault has left many stunned.

A spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed the arrest but revealed that Reedus has not yet been formally charged. Even so, he could face serious charges of obstruction of breathing and third-degree assault.

A violent history

This isn’t the first time Mingus has found himself in trouble with the law. Back in 2021, during New York’s famous San Gennaro Festival, he was accused of punching a 24-year-old woman in the face. The victim suffered a cut beneath her left eye and had to be taken to the hospital.

At the time, Mingus was just 22. He managed to avoid jail by accepting a plea deal, which gave him a year of conditional discharge and required him to attend five counseling sessions — as long as he stayed out of trouble. Clearly, that warning wasn’t enough.

Outside of these controversies, Mingus has tried to build his own name. He began modeling in 2017, signing with the prestigious agency The Society Management, and has walked for major brands. More recently, he’s tried to launch himself as a musician, releasing five songs since May on digital platforms.

But scandals continue to overshadow his career. And now, with this new arrest, his future in both fashion and music may be hanging by a thread.

The case is still under investigation, and formal charges could be coming soon. If that happens, Mingus may face harsh legal consequences that could tarnish his name forever — dragging with it the legacy of being the son of one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
