Three days after his wife’s funeral, the husband walked into the notary office with his mistress.

ready to collect the inheritance — but when the will was read, the truth hit like a bomb, leaving both of them in complete despair.
He walked into the office with his head held high, wearing a dark suit and the arrogance of someone who already considered himself victorious.
Three days earlier, he had been at his wife’s burial pretending to cry, wiping away tears that never existed.
Three years earlier, he had married her out of pure interest.
And now he arrived with the mistress at his side, smiling as if he already knew exactly how much he was going to gain.
“After today, babe… we’ll never have to step foot in that tiny apartment again,” he whispered in her ear.
The woman adjusted her lipstick with the cap of a pen, acting as though she had already been promoted to “madam of the house.”
They were certain.
Or so they thought.
The notary opened the folder.
Silence took over the room.
And the first sentence he read hit like a gunshot:
“To my husband… I leave absolutely NOTHING.”
The mistress widened her eyes.
The husband stood up as if someone had slapped him.
But the notary continued.
The door opened slowly.
A man entered, pushing a baby stroller.
Inside it was a nine-month-old boy… with the same eyes as the deceased woman.
The notary resumed reading:
“I leave all my assets, stocks, properties and bank accounts to my ONLY SON, Lucas.
And until he reaches adulthood, his legal guardians will be Eduardo Tavares… and Mr. Chimald.”
The husband turned pale.
The mistress covered her mouth.
He tried to react:
“F-Father?! Impossible! She was sick! She… she couldn’t…”
But the notary simply placed an envelope on the table — sealed, with his name written in her handwriting.
Her last letter.
The one he never expected to read.
He opened it.
And with each line he read, his face collapsed.
His hands shook.
His knees gave out.
The mistress insisted:
“Rodrigo… what is it? What did she write?!”
But he couldn’t answer.
Shock had stolen his voice.
Because in that letter, his wife revealed the truth — and the plan she had prepared in silence:
“Rodrigo, I found out everything.
All your lies.
All your secret meetings with the mistress.
I discovered you never loved me.
You were just waiting for my death.”
She continued:
“When I received my diagnosis, I realized you would finally get what you always wanted: my inheritance.”
“But God was kind to me. He gave me a gift before I left: Lucas.”
“The child you never knew existed — and who, thankfully, is not yours. He is the result of the one true love I experienced before you.”
Then came the final part — the one that shattered him completely:
“I leave everything to my son, and nothing to you.
My final wish is that all the harm you tried to cause me falls back into the emptiness of your own life.
You will finally be left with what you always deserved: nothing.”
Rodrigo dropped the letter.
He sat down, his legs too weak to hold him.
The mistress took several steps away, as if escaping a fire.
In the stroller, the baby babbled, unaware of the chaos around him.
Eduardo — the real father — placed a gentle hand on the child’s shoulder, calm and whole.
Rodrigo, on the other hand, said nothing.
He couldn’t.
Because that day, in that notary office, he realized that his dead wife had been far smarter than all of them.
And her revenge didn’t need screaming or scandal…
Only a will.
