The Forgetfulness That Changed Everything

Anna let out a quiet sigh. Lately, her husband, Boris, had been increasingly irritable, but she chose not to give it importance. She didn’t want to provoke arguments — it had never been her style to face conflicts. She had always valued peace, giving in to almost everything to maintain harmony at home.

That day, she decided once again to ignore his bad mood and headed to the market.

The Forgetfulness

While checking out her groceries, Anna realized she had forgotten her wallet at home. Frustrated, she ran her hand through her hair and tried calling Boris, but he didn’t answer. She asked the cashier to hold her bag and hurried back to the apartment.

When she reached the door, ready to step inside, she heard her husband’s voice.

“Yes, everything is settled. The apartment is almost transferred, we just need to move the money.”

Anna felt her heart sink. What apartment? What money? What was he plotting?

“Of course there’s some risk,” Boris continued. “But what can she do? She doesn’t suspect a thing. She’s quiet, puts up with everything.”

The words were like knives. After so many years of dedication, was that how he saw her? A fragile woman, incapable of reacting?

Anna froze, devastated. She still heard him talk about trips to Paris — not with her, but with another woman. When the call ended, she instinctively stepped back, hiding in the hallway. Shortly after, Boris left. He didn’t notice her presence. As soon as he walked away, Anna left the building in silence. She needed time. And answers.

The Discovery

Lost, she called her friend Irina, who immediately noticed the tone of her voice. In tears, Anna told her everything. Her friend welcomed her, helping her think straight.

On the way back, still trembling, Anna opened the banking app: there was less money in their joint account. He really was withdrawing funds.

“All right,” she whispered. “If he wants a game, he’ll get one.”

Back home, Boris greeted her impatiently:
“Where were you? I’m starving here!”

Anna held back her anger. She had to stay calm until she had all the proof.

The next day, she said she was sick and stayed home. Then she began her own investigation: she went through documents, accessed the computer. She found message exchanges between Boris and a lawyer — they were discussing divorce and division of assets.

The scheme was real. He was already preparing to discard her.

Anna photographed everything. She opened a separate account, transferred part of the savings, and contacted a trusted lawyer. She also spoke with her parents, who promised to support her.

The Confrontation

That evening, she set the table as usual. When Boris sat down, she placed a folder in front of him.

“I’m filing for divorce,” she said firmly. “Don’t bother denying it. I heard your call. I saw your messages. Did you really think you could fool me? Think again.”

Boris turned pale, stunned. He tried to defend himself with accusations and insults, but Anna was no longer listening. She was resolute.

Days later, he packed his bags and left home. The court blocked the illegal transfer of the apartment and ensured a fair division of assets. Boris tried to appeal, but all attempts failed.

A New Beginning

Time passed, and Anna began to recover. She accepted an invitation to a friend’s birthday party — her first social outing in months. There, she met someone new: a kind, sincere man, completely different from Boris.

She hadn’t expected to find love again, but decided to allow herself. And that choice transformed her life.

Anna started over. This time, she built a home based on trust, respect, and true happiness.
