Arthur had been living for weeks in a mix of anxiety and excitement

He had meticulously planned every detail of his secret trip with his young mistress: he chose a luxury resort, bought a package for two, and hid everything in the car under a folder of documents. For his wife, he had prepared in advance a fake urgent business trip order, supposedly sent by the company.
That night, Arthur came home tired.
— I need to travel for work tomorrow — he said, barely looking at his wife.
She only nodded. Over the last few months, Arthur had become cold, impatient, always distant. He was so confident in his lie that he never imagined his wife already suspected everything.
She had been suspicious for weeks. Her intuition screamed that it wasn’t work — it was another woman. But she had no proof… until that night.
Late at night, when Arthur finally fell asleep, the wife quietly went down to the garage. She turned on her phone flashlight and searched the car calmly, like someone who already knows exactly what they’re looking for. It didn’t take long before she found it: a carefully folded vacation package for two — and the mistress’s name listed as the “companion.”
For a moment, she stood still, truly shocked. Then she took a deep breath, closed her eyes… and went back to the kitchen. She sat there in silence for a long time.
She could have caused a scene. She could have thrown his clothes out the window, she could have called the other woman and exposed everything.
But she chose a different path.
By sunrise, her revenge plan was ready.
And that was how Arthur received the biggest surprise of his life.
The next morning, he woke up late. He grabbed the suitcase he had hidden, kissed his wife on the forehead — an automatic gesture — and walked out the door with the confidence of someone who thinks they’re in control.
But when he arrived at the airport… something was wrong.
His travel documents were not in the folder. Instead, he found a white envelope in his handwriting — but clearly not written by him.
He opened it.
Inside were:
- The travel package he had hidden.
- A copy of the canceled reservations.
- And a letter written by his wife, firm and short:
“Arthur,
I was the one who canceled everything.
If you wish to travel, go alone.
As for me… today I leave for a place where you can never hurt me again.
Have a good trip.”
Arthur froze. He tried calling the resort — everything was canceled. He tried calling the mistress — she didn’t want any involvement in the mess. He tried calling his wife… but she had already blocked his number.
When he returned home, he found the place silent and half empty. His wife had taken only her own belongings — nothing else. On the living-room table, only the divorce papers, already signed by her.
Arthur dropped onto the sofa, finally realizing that while he had been planning a romantic escape…
she had been planning her freedom.
And she succeeded.
